Verbal Diarrhea

Dear daughter,

I know you are 14 but sometimes your comments hurt. Your words, your tone, the way you threaten me......

You are FOURTEEN!

When I was your age I made mistakes just like you are making them now; I argued with my mother just like you argue with me now. I bet I hurt her just as you are hurting me now but I think I get it? You're screwed up, confused, worried, nervous and don't know what is around the corner.

Yesterday you came to me with a worry; this was a big worry for you and it would have been for me at your age too. I hope I reassured you. The thing is with you, it only takes a flip of a coin for you to change towards me. You "hate me", I "annoy you", Sorry honey but that's my job - I'm your mum!
Maybe sometimes you will hate me but I'm there for you whenever you need me. I would drop everything for you. I would give my life for you and your brother.

I know you love me......but I wish sometimes you would show it a bit more.
Respect me as I respect you.
Don't always shout at me.
Try and do your homework.

I will give you in return my love, my full support and all that I can give.

Love, hugs and kisses
mum
X
